Wondering if you’re pregnant?

The thought of being pregnant, especially if it was unexpected, is overwhelming. When symptoms other than a late period start, like morning sickness, it’s downright scary. The anxiety over taking a pregnancy test is normal. Take a deep breath because you don’t have to face it alone.

At Emergency Pregnancy Services, we offer free pregnancy testing to confirm your pregnancy and provide the information you need to move forward with your next steps. Let us walk alongside you during this time in your life.

How a pregnancy test works

Our pregnancy tests are lab-quality urine tests with a 99% accuracy rate. They detect the levels of the pregnancy hormone known as hCG, human chorionic gonadotropin, in your urine.

When a fertilized egg implants in your uterus, your body produces hCG. A pregnancy test detects the amount of hCG hormone found in either your urine or bloodstream. The test has to be taken at a certain time for enough hCG to be detected. You’ll have the results at the same time as your appointment.

When you should take your pregnancy test

Taking a pregnancy test right away probably won’t give you the most accurate results. Your body needs time to build up enough of the hCG hormone to be detected. The temptation to take the test early is real, but how soon you take a pregnancy test depends on your menstrual cycle. Is your period normally regular or irregular?

Just as every woman is unique, so is her cycle. A normal cycle occurs every 28 to 32 days. If that’s you, take a pregnancy test a couple of days after your missed period. If your periods are irregular, it’s best to wait for at least 5 to 6 days after the date you think it should have started. You can receive free pregnancy testing at Emergency Pregnancy Services so schedule your appointment today. We will provide a pregnancy test when you are one week late on your period.

Home pregnancy tests

Even if you’ve taken an over-the-counter pregnancy test, it’s always good to get a second opinion. Although home pregnancy tests can be reliable, the problem is usually user error due to the directions not being followed correctly or the test has actually expired. Come in and verify your pregnancy with free pregnancy testing from us. It costs you nothing!
