Early Signs of Pregnancy
According to the Mayo Clinic, there are a number of early pregnancy symptoms which could include:
- Missed period
- Tender, swollen breasts
- Nausea with or without vomiting
- Increased urination
- Fatigue
- Moodiness
- Food aversions
You may not be pregnant
Having a late period does not always mean you are automatically pregnant. A change in your menstrual cycle could happen if you have had rapid weight gain or loss, hormonal changes, increased physical exertion, or a lot of stress. If you’re a dancer, gymnast, or runner, a change in your cycle could be due to high levels of physical activity.
Plus, up to 20% of known pregnancies end in a natural miscarriage usually before a woman knows she’s pregnant. You can receive a positive pregnancy test even though you’ve already miscarried. We are here to help you with this.
At-home pregnancy tests
Many over-the-counter pregnancy tests are accurate. The problem with using them at home is the tests are often taken too soon, there’s sometimes user error, or the expiration date has passed. If you’ve taken an at-home pregnancy test, we can confirm your results with one of our no-cost, lab-quality tests administered by a member of our medical staff.
It never hurts to get a second opinion. Other centers in the area charge for their pregnancy testing, but at Emergency Pregnancy Services, you can receive pregnancy testing for free.
